Live Your Life Eeheheheheeeeeheheh

Mary, Jesus - a chatty and delightful young lad/bartender at the salsa place, and me

I warned him.

My expression for 90% of what is said to me in Spanish

Thursday -
A normal day at school. I probably siestad in the afternoon. At night we went to Gabanna Bar for free sangria. It was quite delicious. Pilar and Marco are two of the bartenders there and they're super nice. Marco is an exchange student from Italy. After GC some of us went to a bar right by where we live. It's a cozy lil place with a foosball and pool table. Harry, Vig, and Mary, all Australians, came, and we dabbled with the games and danced and drank and the night away - minus the drinking for me. I can imagine my curious 16-year-old-self wandering into the campus bar if I had been born Spanish and thinking I was living the dream. Also noted, is that Thursday is not so thirsty there.

Friday -
I LOVE RAFA. That's my history teacher. I could listen to him all day. He makes gorilla faces when talking about Romans, squints when he pretends to be king, and sneaks in pictures of Yoda and him at bars in his slide shows. GOD BLESS HIM. Then I have frickin art history with a troll woman who claps at us and yells, "Escucha! Escucha!" I spent most of class thinking about what her life would be like if she had been a peasant under Rafa's rule. That and how long I'd siesta that afternoon. Turns out - 3 hours. :) Then we went back to Gabanna Bar. Marco gave us free shots. Cheers to Marco! Then some of us headed to Can Can, because yes, we can-can. I asked some guy how to get there and he and his friend just walked us there. They got my number and told me to celebrate their birthdays with them. I said ok. Vanessa and Katie, students from Massachusetts, came, and they are a ton of fun. Evan and I met the owner and he gave everyone free shots and coupons for free drinks. The playlist was the exact same as the week before, which was cool. I already felt like a regular. Represent.

Saturday -
I went shopping during the day to the mall and then into town. It was nice to walk around and see all the stores. My best buy was nailpolish - neon yellow, green, and pink - for under 3 euro. Of course, a siesta went down, and then I went to a salsa club, Casco Anitgue with Mary. Not without having at least one strange encounter first. I was alone on the bus with the driver and I guess the last bus of the normal schedule has a maintenance time where it just sits. Well, he turned out to be really kind and cool to talk to, but when the first question is, "Are you alone?" it's kind of weird. Anyway, we met up with Goncalo and Sjuenna at the club. I met a cool girl named Michelle, who's American, there, and she gave me a wonderful review session on salsa. I danced with some guy who I told up front that I don't know salsa or rumba and I guess I'll just say I was impressed with his patience. Turns out Mary and I started talking with the owner and/or bartender and we got free drinks all night and a promise for free drinks every time we come. He was a small Chilean man named Cristian, and he pretty much loved that we promised to call/email him with any questions we had about Spain. We also met Kely, a guy, and Maria, who are from Cuba. Maria is 43 with an 18 year old daughter, and Kely, her cousin, claims 23, but I highly doubt it. He was one hunk of Cuban cuteness, though. Mary and I made our way home around 4a.m. and crashed.

Sunday-
Adventure to Madrid. The city is gorgeous. The pictures say it all. It was incredible. It has the feel of a spacious, ancient Chicago with no water. We walked into an old structure built by the Egyptians with hieroglyphics still on the walls. Basically, all of the apartments here are my dream homes with wrought iron balconies, and there are Mini Coopers galore, and I found thrift stores and hidden cafes and running paths through botanical gardens, and finally, some good-lookin Spaniards. I'd move here in an instant. We went on a tour on the double decker ultrasuper touristy buses. It was grand. Then we walked all over creation. I can't wait to go back.

Today-
Good ole class - and no DQ class apparently because our professor's house was robbed. :( Everyone's safe. It was a bit misty today so I did my siesta-action of four hours after watching Gray's on youtube. I made reservations to go to Granada this weekend and stay at Funky Backpacker's Hostal. Life is good. :)
